Summary

Backend engineer with seven years building payment and logistics systems in Python and Go on AWS. Owns services that handle 40,000 requests a minute at peak and has kept them above 99.95 percent availability for three years. Comfortable leading integrations with outside partners and writing the runbooks other engineers actually use.

Stack

Languages: Python, Go, TypeScript, SQL.

Platforms: AWS Lambda, ECS, RDS Postgres, SQS, Redis, Terraform, Docker, GitHub Actions.

Practices: REST and GraphQL APIs, event driven design, observability with Grafana and OpenTelemetry, on call rotation.

Systems Built

  • Designed a payment orchestration service in Go that routes 2,000,000 dollars a day across three processors with automatic failover
  • Built an event pipeline on SQS and Lambda that replaced a nightly batch and cut order status delay from six hours to 30 seconds
  • Led the Stripe and Shopify integrations for a merchant onboarding flow used by 1,800 stores

Reliability

  • Reduced p99 latency on the order API from 900 milliseconds to 180 through query tuning and a Redis read cache
  • Cut monthly incident count from eleven to two after introducing structured alerts and a blameless postmortem template
  • Wrote the on call runbook that halved mean time to recovery for the logistics team

Experience

Parcelworks | Senior Backend Engineer | May 2022 to present

  • Own the payments and order services for a logistics platform serving 1,800 merchants in the NYC metro area
  • Mentor three engineers and review roughly 40 pull requests a month
  • Drove the Terraform migration that brought infrastructure changes under code review

Harbor Commerce | Backend Engineer | July 2019 to April 2022

  • Built the inventory sync service in Python that reconciled 500,000 SKUs nightly across warehouses
  • Shipped the GraphQL gateway that let the mobile team cut API round trips by 60 percent

Bluepoint Labs | Software Engineer | June 2017 to June 2019

  • Delivered internal tools in Django and React for a 200 person operations team

Education

City College | Bachelor of Engineering, Computer Engineering | 2017.

Why this shape

A technical resume is scanned for stack and scale before anything else. The languages and platforms sit at the top as plain comma lists an applicant tracking system can read, and the systems built section answers the only question that matters early: what did you ship and at what volume.

What to lead with

Lead with the stack in three labelled lines, then three systems with throughput, dollars or latency attached. Reliability gets its own section because uptime and incident count are the numbers an engineering manager remembers.
